Parish Groups are basic Christian communities, gatherings of 6 to 12 people, meeting in individual's homes and apartments throughout the Seattle and its suburbs during the week. We believe that discipleship and evangelism are best carried out in a community context and in our local communities. Parish Groups provide the context for discipleship and evangelism. In our Parish Groups three very important things happen.
First, community is built. Together we learn to love, shepherd, nurture, disciple, and encourage each other. Relationships are developed, matured, and strengthened. We grow in intimacy and provide practical love.
Second, shepherding is done. We are encouraged, nurtured, and built up in our faith. We learn what it means to follow Christ. We challenge one another in the pathway of discipleship.
Third, outreach is executed. Parish Groups provide the context for planning and doing evangelism and mercy in our neighborhoods. Together we learn to bear each others - and our neighbor's - burdens. We learn to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
How Do I Get Involved?
Being a part of a Parish Group is part of the normal life of folks at Ascension. We have every week's Parish Groups listed, with times and location, in our worship bulletin every week. After visiting us for the first time (or the fourth!), drop in on a Parish Group - they'll be happy to see you.
