What kind of people will be there?
Our congregation is drawn primarily from Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline and Edmonds. Our congregation looks a lot like our neighborhoods - young families, singles, empty-nesters. We're a friendly lot and would love to get to know you!
How do I get there?
You will find a map and directions in the tab at the top of every page. We are currently sharing space with the Edmonds Church of God.
When do you meet?
Ascension currently meets at 10:00 on Sunday Mornings. Services last around 90 minutes and are full of engaging worship with practical and challenging sermons.
What do you have for my kids?
We love kids and offer children to 4 years old a nursery which gives them a safe environment to play and receive age-appropriate teaching about Jesus. Children ages 4 to 6 are invited during the service to go out for our engaging "Children's Church" program during the sermon. All of our Children’s ministry team members undergo a full background check.
What about my teenagers?
Although we are a new church, we have the resources of multiple congregations in our Youth Ministry. Each week our Junior and Senior High School students from all of the CrossPoint Churches get together for 2 hours of teaching, fellowship and fun.
What do you believe?
Although we are a new church, we are part of a very old faith. Ultimately, all our hope is place in Jesus and the good news of how he saves and changes people. We are Presbyterians - a long word which simply means that our churches are run by Elders who are chosen by the congregation.
As Presbyterians, we are committed to the belief that the Bible Alone is completely trustworthy to tell us about God and what he is like, that Christ Alone is the way to God, that we are saved by Grace Alone through Faith Alone, and that only God receives the glory for this.
You can learn more about what we believe here.
Do I have to agree with you to come?
No, not at all. Ascension is for both the curious and the committed. We welcome both to come and be challenged as we worship God and hear from him.
What Should I Wear?
If you would like to wear jeans, wear jeans. If you would like to wear a suit, wear a suit. We're not really concerned about what you wear - just wear something!
What’s your worship “style”?
We use guitars and drums, we write new music and sing old music too. We are casual, but we also stand and read prayers together. This is because we believe that our worship service should not only be beautiful and enjoyable, but it should also engage our hearts and our minds through its presentation of the Gospel.
Our service is modeled on the dialog that God has with humanity through history and through the Bible – He calls us to worship him, we acknowledge our sinfulness, he speaks words of forgiveness, we return praise, he teaches us with his Word, he feeds us with the Gospel as presented in the Lord’s Supper, and he sends us with his blessing.
What do I do after I visit?
The next step for a visitor after coming to Sunday Worship is to begin attending a Parish Group. Parish Groups are 90 minute mid-week meetings in people's homes all over Snohomish and Northern King Counties. All of our current Parish Groups are listed in the Sunday bulletin.
